THE INSTITUT CATALÀ DEL PEU CARRIES OUT A BIOMECHANICAL ANALYSIS TO THE CYCLIST GUILLEM SURIÑACH.

On January the 11^th , the Catalan cyclist Guillem Suriñach visited us, one of the scholarship holders through an agreement we have between the Institut Català del Peu and the Catalan Cyclist Federation, through Fitmetric, the department of sporting biomechanics of the Institut Català del Peu. We realize through Fitmetric, (the department of sporting biomechanics of the Institut Català del peu), different collaboration plans with different federations, sportsmen/sportswomen, rehabilitation centers and sporting clubs. In case like this, with the Catalan Cyclist Federation, we fulfill a collaboration plan where we support for the services of sporting podiatry and sporting biomechanics to a series of cyclists previously chosen by the federation according to their sporting results. The idea of this plan is to support for what we are experts, the prevention and the improvement of performance through the sporting biomechanics. Thanks to this agreement, we have been able to help Guillem to know certain issues to work his physique with the aim of preventing possible lesions, improving his biomechanics on the bike through the position, and some specific work guidelines to carry out under the supervision of his trainer and to guarantee an improvement of his physical performance. Guillem Suriñach is a Catalan cyclist with a prominent list of achievements, where he is particularly remarkable for his heroic deeds in 2023, but also in the beginning of 2024. Therefore, Guillem is consolidating a marked professional career for his future as a professional cyclist, standing out on trophies like champion of Catalonia CRI elite 2023, champion of Catalonia CRI elite 2024, first on Great Classical St. Jaume dels Domenys 2024, first to Critèrium del Pla de Sta. Maria 2023, second to Critèrium del Pla de Sta. Maria 2024, seventh of Great Classical Isaac Gàlvez 2024, third to the Great Classical de la Sènia 2024, third to the Critèrium de Juneda 2023, third to the Championship of Catalonia of CRI elite 2022, fourth to the Championship of Spain of CRI elite 2023, fifth to the Final General Great Classical 2024, and third to the Final General Critèrium Cup 2023. While we had the session with Guillem, we could detect certain issues to improve on his physical training and articular biomechanics, with a series of specific exercises at a muscular level which have a transfer to the exercise on the bike and will improve outstandingly those issues and the articular biomechanics. During the same session, Guillem could observe how his performance parameters on the bike improved drastically to symmetry values, which a long time ago were resisting. This was a work with very good results, fruit of the kind of a sportsman Guillem is. We don’t have any doubt about the perseverance he has and that on this season he will be on the top showing he has made a good training. Undoubtedly, this collaboration with the Catalan Cycling Federation is going to be outstanding in cyclists. We hope that through the sporting biomechanics we can help cyclists to achieve the sporting goals.
