Ephion Health has developed a biomechanical analysis system through inertial sensors in order to analyze the articular biomechanics in a quick and simple way.
Nowadays, they are focused on the health field. They achieve with its system a series of information about the biomechanical analysis of running, in order to make a study to patients with different pathologies and, therefore, to establish metrics about the development of a treatment, the pathology in question and to detect certain anomalies on the running standard as soon as possible.
The collaboration between Ephion Health and the Institut Català del Peu is carried out in order to serve the technology from Ephion Health of inertial sensors to the sporting field thank to the experience of the Institut Català del Peu with Fitmetric, its department of sporting biomechanics.
Fitmetric, was born in 2019 as a department of biomechanical analysis and podiatric examination for the sportsman/sportswoman, using the last technology in biomechanical analysis through markers and cameras called Vicon system. Today, this technology remains one of the most used on a scientific level in order to validate new technologies, scientific research, medical assessments, etc. However, new technologies make work easier, giving more speed and obtaining of reports, mainly when it is not about such a scientific use and, therefore, we trust that the Ephion Health technology will be able to help in the field of health. With the aim that Ephion Health can make use of its technology in the sporting field, the knowledge of the two companies unites, transfering in this way the Institut Català del Peu all its experience gained in Fitmetric during these years. In this way, we are working that this new inertial technology can examine the biomechanics of sporting movements and to give reports of results in a quick and optimized way through the reading of important information and in key moments of these sporting gestures in order to understand which the biomechanical trouble of the sportsman/sportswoman is, just how it is done today in Fitmetric with the Vicon technology. This will mean a rapprochement to trainers and physiotherapists to a quick technology to use and to obtain reports to assess sportsmen/sportswomen the biomechanics in sporting gestures.
To make all this process to mark the end on a technology of biomechanical analysis in sport, several tests will be carried out, both with the inertial technology and with Vicon technology by markers and cameras, because first of all, both systems have to be validated, although they have different ways of measures, they have the same result. This is the validation stage of technology. Behind, there is a great work, of catches, analysis, development of algorithms, results checking, statistical study, etc.
Validation is a long and tedious process which will have different facets.
Nowadays, we are in the preparatory stage of the inertial technology, verification of the protocol running, verification of new functions for data capture, etc. This will allow us to speed up time in the results time of both technologies.
This has been a satisfactory stage and on next weeks we will collect the data with both technologies, evaluating the articular biomechanics of different functional exercises and the articular biomechanics in running to different sportsmen/sportswomen in order to be able to validate the technology.
Nowadays, we have agreements with different sporting clubs in order to have entrant sportsmen/sportswomen as check-up characters. These characters have to fulfill a series of conditions which are part of the protocol, having under control the greatest number of possible variables.
We will let you know on next posts how next stages are developed, announcing how the biomechanical analysis is necessary in order to prevent and overcome lesions through technology.
