THE INSTITUT CATALÀ DEL PEU SIGNS AN AGREEMENT OF COLLABORATION WITH THE CATALAN CYCLING FEDERATION

Last month, the Institut Català del Peu signed an agreement of collaboration with the Catalan Cycling Federation. Said agreement was brought to fruition by the signature of an agreement in the headquarters of the Catalan Cycling Federation between the president of the F.C.C., Mr. Joaquim Vilaplana Boloix and the manager of the Institut Català del Peu Mr. Miquel Àngel Baños Bernad. The Institut Català del Peu with this agreement through its Department of Sporting Biomechanics, (Fitmetric), awards “Fitmetric grants” to the six champions from Catalonia of trail cycling and road cycling. This grant consists on granting a 3D complete biomechanical study composed by a podiatric examination, a revision of shoes and coves, an adjustiment of the same ones on bicycle, a functional test in order to determine the cyclist’s health conditions, a strength test to detect and to prevent lesions, a 3D analysis of the pedaling technique in order to fit the correct position on the bicycle which allows the sportsman to avoid feelings of discomfort and to perform the most and, finally, an analysis of the power origin. All this information allows the sportsman and his technical team to make decisions and necessary measures in order to prevent lesions, to fit the training charges and being able to increase the performance extending the sporting and professional life of the cyclist. Apart from these grants, this agreement aims to reach the federated cyclist providing advantages in order to gain access to the services of Fitmetric, among them, the study of 3D performance for cyclists and the already known bike fitting. Finally, this agreement also entails a formative and diffused part, including Fitmetric, in order to convey the module of biomechanics in cycling in beyond the education for trainers and managers of the federation with the aim of improving the knowledge of this subject and professionalizing the figure of the trainer in cycling.
